Women’s Health Issues

Many women don’t take care of themselves. There are many issues related to women’s health that a woman must be aware of. Here are a few basic problems that most women suffer from:

Vitamin D and calcium deficiency:

You can be perfectly healthy and still suffer from vitamin D and calcium deficiency. Usually these deficiencies don’t show any symptoms until they have been properly established. Slight body aches and pains, a general feeling of malaise and tiredness and fatigue are usually the most common symptoms. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to ostoemalacia and calcium deficiency can lead to osteoporosis both of which are bone diseases and make bones weak and prone to fractures. Drinking more calcium and vitamin D enforced milk, and increasing exposure to the sun can help increase your calcium and vitamin D levels respectively.

Anemia:

Anemia is a common women’s health problem, and especially dangerous if you are pregnant. Anemia is a deficiency of iron in the blood. Increasing your iron intake in the form of supplements and even with the help of iron rich foods like liver, spinach, apples etc can help bring your iron levels to normal.

Urinary tract infections:

Many women suffer from repeated urinary tract infections or cystitis, which is a painful inflammation of the urinary bladder. Urinary tract infections can be avoided by keeping your water intake high and drinking cranberry juice when you start feeling urgency and frequency or burning while you pass urine. Cranberry juice or cranberry juice extracts are excellent for urinary tract health.

Irregular menstruation:

There are many women who suffer from irregular menstrual cycles, and there can be a number of reasons for your cycle to be irregular. Stress can also be a contributing factor for irregular menstruation, but if your menstrual cycle has been irregular for more than 3 months, consult your family physician.
